7-Day Amaizing Safari of Wildebeest Migration
Tour Overview
This is a very special tour that concentrates in the Serengeti, to follow the great migration. You will spend at least 4 nights in the park, usually two in the Central Area (largest concentration of big cats) and two where the migration is according to the time of the year. We have designed this particular tour so that you finish the safari in the most remote location in the Serengeti, then fly from there to your next destination. But we can redesign it to return to Arusha by land.

Expand allCollapse allDay 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, leave Arusha at around 8:30 am and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive with picnic lunch. Later proceed to Fanaka lodge Camping Site for dinner and your overnight stay.
Stretching for 50km along the base of the rusty-gold 600-metre high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”.
The compact game-viewing circuit through Manyara offers a virtual microcosm of the Tanzanian safari experience.
From the entrance gate, the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest where hundred-strong baboon troops lounge nonchalantly along the roadside. Blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bushbuck tread warily through the shadows, and outsized forest hornbills honk cacophonously in the high canopy.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, proceed to Serengeti National Park for a game drive with picnic lunches. Dinner and your overnight stay are at Seronera Campsite.
Experience the great migration. A million wildebeest... each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfilling its instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life. A frenzied three-week bout of territorial conquests and mating; survival of the fittest as 40km (25 mile) long columns plunge through crocodile-infested waters on the annual exodus north; replenishing the species in a brief population explosion that produces more than 8,000 calves daily before the 1,000 km (600 mile) pilgrimage begins again.

- Serengeti National Park
Day 3: Serengeti National Park
Enjoy early morning game drives in Serengeti National Park then get back to the camp for breakfast and relaxation. Later, proceed for a full day game drive with picnic lunches. Dinner and your overnight stay are at Seronera Campsite.
The spectacle of predator versus prey dominates Tanzania’s greatest park. Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary leopards haunt the acacia trees lining the Seronera River, while a high density of cheetahs prowls the southeastern plains. Almost uniquely, all three African jackal species occur here, alongside the spotted hyena and a host of more elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the beautiful serval cat.
- Main Destination:
- Northern Serengeti National Park
Day 4 : Serengeti National Park
Enjoy early morning game drives in Serengeti National Park then get back to the camp for breakfast and relaxation. Later, proceed for a full day game drive with picnic lunches. Dinner and your overnight stay are at Seronera Campsite.
As enduring as the game-viewing is the liberating sense of space that characterises the Serengeti Plains, stretching across sunburnt savannah to a shimmering golden horizon at the end of the earth. Yet, after the rains, this golden expanse of grass is transformed into an endless green carpet flecked with wildflowers. And there are also wooded hills and towering termite mounds, rivers lined with fig trees and acacia woodland stained orange by dust.
- Main Destination:
- Central Serengeti National Park
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
Have an early morning game drive Serengeti National Park, get back for breakfast and then proceed to Ngorongoro Crater with en-route game drives with picnic lunches. Later proceed to Simba Camping Site for dinner and your overnight stay.
The main feature of the Ngorongoro Conservation Authority is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. The crater, which formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago, is 610 meters (2,000 feet) deep and its floor covers 260 square kilometers (100 square miles). Estimates of the height of the original volcano range from 4,500 to 5,800 meters (14,800 to 19,000 feet) high. The elevation of the crater floor is 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level.

- Ngorongoro Crater
Day 6: Tarangire National Park
After early breakfast, continue for a full day crater tour with picnic lunches at Ngorongoro Crater. Later proceed to Tarangire. Dinner and your overnight stay are inside Camping Site.
The fierce sun sucks the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth a dusty red, the withered grass as brittle as straw. The Tarangire River has shrivelled to a shadow of its wet season self, but it is choked with wildlife. Thirsty nomads have wandered hundreds of parched kilometres knowing that there is always water here.
Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It's the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem—a smorgasbord for predators. It is the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.
